Engineer-Gunner Crew 5Graduated from Gowanda High School and entered service September 30, 1939 at Chanute Field, Illinois. Completed aircraft mechanics course. After Tokyo Raid, attended OCS and was commissioned a second lieutenant in December, 1942. Served in Africa and Italy as Aircraft Maintenance Officer from October 1943 to August, 1945. Relieved from active duty, April, 1946. Recalled to active duty as Special Assistant for National Guard Affairs in March of 1957. Decorations include Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Force Commendation Medal, and the Chinese Army, Navy, and Air Corps Medal, Class A, 1st Grade.
