Graduated from Lincoln High School, Lincoln, Nebraska in 1937 and attended the University of Nebraska. Entered service on July 26, 1940 and received pilot wings and commission at Kelly Field, Texas, March, 1941 and assigned to the 89th Reconnaissance Squadron at McChord Field, Washington. Remained in China-Burma-India Theater until December, 1942. Held various Stateside assignments until relieved from active duty on March 10, 1946. Decorations include the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Chinese Army, Navy, and Air Corps Medal, Class A, 1st Grade.
