The weapons bay of the F-106 is over a quarter the length of the aircraft. All the weapons are carried in the bay to minimize drag. The only things carried on external hardpoints are the drop tanks (and sometimes chaff dispensers or some missiles): the supersonic tanks could hold 1360 L (360 gallons) and were Mach 2 rated; the subsonic tanks could hold 870 L (230 gallons).

PETE MAXWELLL

The missile armament of the F-106 Delta Dart consisted of four AIM-4 Falcons and one AIR--2A Genie unguided nuclear rocket.  Four AIM-4G or four AIM-4F Falcons could be carried, the usual armament configuration, however, usually consisted of two of each type.  The -F Falcon was a radar guided missal, while the -G version was infrared ( heat seaking guided missal.  When both types of missals were carried the -F type were loaded on the forward rails and the -Gs on the aft rails.  When fired the rear missals would be fired first and then the forward missals.  The use of two missals with different guidance systems increased the kill probability, and made evasion and target defense much more difficult to defend.
